Ashby Town Council Support Wishes 4 Kids

 
Mary Tuckey, the Ashby Town Mayor, is pleased to announce that the Mayor's Charity Appeal for 2008-2009 will be Wishes4Kids. Mary says, "having seen what this charity achieves I am pleased to be able to support this worthwhile local charity. I have organised a number of events throughout the year, ranging from a store at a local Farmers Market to a Charity Concert to be held in March 2009. In addition to this my colleague, Richard Bebbington and his partner, are trekking to Mount Everest Base Camp. This trip is totally self Funded". For details of the Mayor's events please see below.
Sunday 26th July 2008 - Family Fun Day
 
Jim at The White Hart, Ashby-de-la-Zouch, has kindly agreed to hold a family fun day on Sunday 27 July. This will be packed with entertainment including a Punch and Judy show, Magic Shows, Bouncy Castle, BBQ, Raffle and lots more. Starting at 1pm everyone is invited.
 
Saturday 20th September 2008 - Conkers Sponsored Walk
 
A family sponsored walk to be held at Conkers, Moria. Take a leisurely stroll around five miles of trails, in the heart of the National Forest, whilst raising money for a very worth while cause. Free entry for all those taking part.

Saturday 20th December 2008 - Ashby Farmers Market
 
Visit our festive charity stall at the ever popular Ashby Farmers Market. Lots of hand crafted decorations and gifts will be available. All monies raised will go direct to Wishes4Kids.
 
December 2008 - Charity Pub Quiz
 
Starting a 8pm the Plough Inn in Ashby De La zouch have agreed to run a charity quizz. The winners will recieve a gallon of bear.
 
April 2009 - Mount Everest Base Camp
 
Over a three week period councillor Richard Bebbington and his partner Angela Conibear will be trekking to Everest Base Camp, in aid of Wishes4Kids. In 2007 the pair cycled from Lands End to John O Groats for the same charity. In 2008 Richard ran the London Marathon, raising more money for this worthwhile cause. Like their previous trips this trek is totally self funded, ALL monies raised will go direct ot Wishes4Kids.
 
7th March 2009 - Ashby Concert Band
 
A concert, to be held at Ashby Holly Trinty Church, will take place on Saturday 7th March. Music, from Ashby Concert Band, will range from classic concert band music by Hoist and Vaughan-Williams through to the very best in film muisc.
